After months of regular updates and build up fever, Savvis has finally opened its new Atlanta data center, providing an important link for local and southeast-based business with access to a global, network and hosting IT infrastructure.
The facility has over 30,000 square feet of raised floor space.
James Whitemore, chief marketing officer for Savvis commented: "Our new Atlanta data center was built specifically to provide IT infrastructure as service to the growing number of Fortune 1,000 firms with operations in Atlanta. In addition, Atlanta's location outside of the hurricane corridor makes it ideal for delivering vital disaster recovery and failover services for businesses throughout the Southeast."
The Atlanta data center is now the 24th such center operated by Savvis throughout the US, Europe and Asia.
The company has already announced that RedPrairie Corp, a consumer-driven optimization company has selected the facility to host its services. Both companies have also entered into an agreement to host customers in a Washington D.C data center scheduled to open next week.
RedPrairie currently hosts customers from two data centers, one in Atlanta and one in London, and both centers will continue to support customers currently hosted there.
