A Hernon, Va.-based fiber-optic network solutions provider announced availability of a new colocation space in Newark, N.J.

The new data center is RCN Metro Optical Networks' 24th facility that provides rack cages and infrastructure to clients, according to a company statement.

The firm is hoping to attract financial trading companies which is a growing sector in the city.

"With many of the major financial exchanges moving into New Jersey, we strategically positioned this facility to ensure our ability to provide trading companies the closest possible solution with high bandwidth connectivity to the RCN Metro network and major financial exchanges in order to ensure the lowest possible latency," RCN Metro President Felipe Alvarez said in the statement.

Cooling solutions deployed at the facility consist of APC InRow RD, 300mm units and an APC Hot Aisle Containment System.
