RailTel is set to open a 10MW data center in Noida, India.

Inaugurated earlier this week, the 17,000 sqm (183,000 sq ft) facility is set to offer colo, hosting, and managed services.

The facility was developed with the help of Indian power infrastructure firm Techno Electric and Engineering Company Limited. The latter also launched its own data center subsidiary in May of this year.

Noida is located on the outskirts of New Delhi in the northern state of Uttar Pradesh.

RailTel’s primary specialization is in telecommunications, but the state-controlled company also possesses a data center footprint. The company has two core Tier-III certified data centers in Gurugram and Secunderabad from which it offers colo services and its own cloud service, known as Railcloud.

The company also began the roll-out of its first Edge data centers across India in August of last year.

Formed in 2000 with the aim of modernizing India’s communication infrastructure, RailTel owns fiber along the country’s rail networks. The network runs along more than 60,000 route kilometers (37,282 miles) and covers more than 6,000 railway stations across India.
