Rackwise has set a launch date for the first version of its Data Center Infrastructure Management (DCIM) software since it announced the agreement to integrate it with Intel’s Data Center Manager.
Rackwise is planning to launch DCM version 3.6 in April. Integration with Intel adds deep real-time IT-device-level energy consumption and thermal monitoring capabilities. DCM 3.6 will combine those with Rackwise’s visualization, reporting and analytics platform.
Jeff Klaus, director of data center solutions at Intel, said the combination will give data center managers better tools for capacity planning, forecasting, performance monitoring and energy management, using which may ultimately lead to operational savings.
“Rackwise DCM’s extensive visualization, reporting and analytics platform combined with information from Intel DCM will give data center personnel an unprecedented level of intelligent access and control over the physical and virtual assets within the data center,” Klaus said.
The release will for the first time implement real-time data gathering and reporting capabilities built around temperature and power monitoring, as well as failure analysis. This will extend visibility and analytics at the device, rack, floor and all other levels of data center infrastructure.
DCM 3.6 will also feature better view into blade-server enclosures to allow asset tracking and reporting on all types of modules within an enclosure.
Rackwise is adding global search features, enabling access to multiple levels of data, including device, module, rack and floor-mounted-equipment visualization.
Finally, the upcoming release of the solution will have more detailed modeling of the entire data center power chain.
Rackwise and Intel will market the solution jointly, focusing first on the Asia-Pacific and European markets.
