Greater Springfield's push for standalone status has received a boost, after signing a deal with the State Government's primary data and technology provider, CITEC.
The decision provides a business solution for the State Government, allowing it to consolidate its ICT operations in the $212m Polaris Data Center, with the agreement to sign a 10-year lease for an entire floor.
CITEC's relocation plans were deemed necessary as its data operations rapidly reach capacity.
Queensland Information and Communication Technology Minister Robert Schwarten says the deal was a perfect fit for the Government's mission-critical operations.
"Most importantly it will operate simultaneously with the government's primary CITEC CBD data center and be capable of immediate switchover in the event of an outage," says Schwarten.
CITEC will move into the premises in December 2008 as part of an investment that will support the local ICT industry.
