QHi-Group, provider of monitoring solutions for mission-critical electrical systems, has added predictive circuit monitoring to its product portfolio, targeting data center operators as a significant market of interest.
The new Exertherm LoadMap product complements QHi’s existing Exertherm Continuous Thermal Monitoring system. LoadMap identifies compromised joints and terminations on circuits operating at low loads.
Data center designers traditionally set alarm thresholds on circuits based on 100% load, while data centers with dual power feeds (most of them) almost never have circuits fully loaded, according to QHi. Operators prefer to leave headroom for flexibility during maintenance or emergency failover.
QHi says alarm thresholds should be different for different loads.
LoadMap adjusts the alarm threshold based on load in real time. It also predicts the amount of load that can be applied to a circuit before it reaches that threshold.
The vendor says both LoadMap and the Continuous Thermal Monitoring system are vendor-neutral. They can be installed in both previously existing and new buildings.
UK-based QHi has a third data center management product: Vigilance. This is an energy management system built on an open protocol platform.
