Data center operator Pure has bought land in Finland for a planned data center development.

The City of Seinäjoki this week announced it has sold a 22.3-hectare plot of land to Pure DC for €3.86 million ($4.55m).

Seinäjoki is a city and regional capital of South Ostrobothnia, in west central Finland.

The plot of land is located in the Kivenneva data center area, east of the Eskoo interchange along Itäväylä.

The city said three buildings are planned on the campus.

“We are really happy that the long preparation is now culminating in this land deal, which will concretize the location of a large data center in Seinäjoki. The data center's builders have indicated that construction will begin quickly, and I look forward to the future with confidence,” said Seinäjoki City Mayor, Jaakko Kiiskilä.

Pure added a Finnish data center development to its website last year, listing a planned 500MW site across 370 acres in Seinäjoki.

Pure said the substation for the first data hall is constructed and live. The FIN01 site will be developed using repeatable 40MW AI-ready modules equipped with direct-to-chip liquid cooling to support high-density workloads.

A company known as SDC Project Ventures is listed as a partner on the project, though few details are available.
