Virtual infrastructure management software company Akorri has released the latest version of its BalancePoint software, with new automated predictive analysis for virtual infrastructure.
BalancePoint Predictor for Storage can automatically detect issues in virtual infrastructure, focussing on problems that can cause outages. It can also predict storage issues in virtual environments before they happen, which according to Akorri is an industry first.
Symantec increases protection for virtual machines
Symantec said it has updated its Backup Exec 2010 which now includes wizards to help with in-product guidance for Windows data recovery and additional platform support.
This will allow for better protection of virtual machines, according to Symantec, and also adds the additional ability of fully integrated data deduplication and archiving technologies. The instal time has also been reduced by 20 percent, according to the company.
PEER 1 offers VMware services for cloud
Online IT hosting company PEER1 Hosting in the UK said it is now taking part in VMWare's service provider programme, which opens up private cloud based solutions for its customers using its 10Gb network.
PEER 1 said that moving to a cloud offering means it can increase its disaster recovery and allow companies of all sizes to run web applications with the provider. Customers can also manage and monitor their private cloud using VMware vSphere.
