Netwise Hosting, a small colo operating at the edge of London cut its prices and claimed that the retail colocation market ‘needed waking up.’

Matthew Butt, Managing Director at Netwise Hosting, said: “The retail colocation market needed waking up - our new figures now put us in line with wholesale market prices, something yet unseen in the London colocation marketplace. Our new price-points place us right at the epicentre of demand for this type of service in the capital, and I have no doubt that we will reach capacity very quickly.”

Netwise Hosting is pushing full rack enclosures at £699 per month until January 2013, with 8 amps of dual feed power, 16 APC remote reboot ports, 20Mbps of Committed Data Rate (CDR) bandwidth, and 16 IP addresses.

New Connections
The larger scale Sentrum Colo partnered with Next Connex to deliver open access networking across its Hayes data centre. This offers Sentrum Colo’s clients network connectivity, opening up carriers across the UK through a simple fibre link.

Sentrum said multiple ultra-low latency 10GB waves into the data center eliminates the need to maintain a costly presence in London’s main carrier exchange, allowing it to connect with over 200 carriers available at Telehouse North, including LINX.
In addition, with the data centre connecting directly to the Slough node, it is now able to provide internet links to the USA and Europe. 

New contractor

iomart Group plc, appointed FES FM to support the maintenance requirements across its UK data center estate. FES FM, part of the FES Group, will act as the single contractor. Ian Maitland, Managing Director of FES FM, said: “This is an important strategic contract for FES FM. We understand and recognise the necessity to deliver exceptional standards of performance across the maintenance services to ensure the integrity of each of iomart’s data centres. We are confident that our experience will help iomart Group meet these performance standards.”
