Schneider has upgraded its line of APC-brand Uninterruptible Power Supplies (UPS) for large data centers to enable users to configure multiple units in parallel without a centralized static switch cabinet.
Users of APC’s MGE EPS8000 Integrated Parallel can configure up to 3+1UPS modules in parallel for capacity or redundancy. The upgraded modules come with local paralleling boards that communicate with each other to synchronize output voltage.
The feature enables UPS modules to automatically accept the load of a failed module on the same parallel bus if it fails or is removed for service. This enables users to remove UPS modules without having to connect critical load straight to utility power.
In addition to the new Integrated Parallel feature, the upgraded product has a 12-inch graphical display for monitoring current characteristics at the system level, including load and system voltage.
Provider of data center management solutions No Limits Software upgraded its Data Center Infrastructure Management (DCIM) product to integrate with HP’s smart rack power distribution product.
The HP iPDU (intelligent power distribution unit) automatically tracks server installation and adds automation to power distribution. No Limits says integration of iPDU with its Rack Management Platform (RaMP) extends iPDU capabilities to devices in the rack other than servers, such as network gear.
RaMP’s capabilities include automatic discovery of servers, switches, routers, rack PDUs, UPS and other infrastructure components. The solution also provides power and environmental monitoring down to the device level.
