Airport computer systems of the major US airline US Airways experienced an outage on 10 June that lasted for several hours, causing flight delays and downtime for the company's website.

In a statement, US Airways said the downtime was caused by a power outage near one of its data centers in Phoenix, Arizona, but did not provide any more detail. The company's representatives did not return a call seeking comment in time for publication.

The company said it had restored the systems the same day.

"US Airways' website, usairways.com, and airport computer systems have been restored following a systems outage earlier today," the company wrote in a statement released on 10 June. "As the operation returns, flights may continue to be delayed.

The Associated Press quoted Phoenix Sky Harbor International Airport officials saying the outage had caused long lines at the airport's ticket counters. The same sources told AP that the outage happened in the mid-afternoon, preventing customers from making reservations, checking in online, change flights or check flight status.

Phoenix Sky Harbor was not the only airport affected by the outage. Fox News reported delays and flight cancellations in airports "across the country", including Albany International Airport in Albany, New York.
