The Dynamic Power Optimization software, according to Power Assure, uses demand-driven calculation algorithms to adjust server capacity in real time, as well as cooling and other facility resources. 

 

Power Assure says its solution can replace the “always on” operating model with an “on demand” solution, that can predict workloads to help with equipment placement.

 

It features advanced runbook automation modules to support leading server and system management and inventory and building management platforms and has a virtualization manager that works in VMware, Citrix, Xen and PowerVM environments.

 

NASA is already using its Power Assure software to increase its energy efficiency, according to NASA CTO for IT Chris Kemp.

“With efficiency initiatives at the forefront of public interest, it is especially relevant to highlight developments that are bringing about leading-edge power and energy management savings.”

 

According to IT analyst at The451 Group Andy Lawrence, products such as Power Assure’s will appeal to a number of data center operators.

 

“With the growth of data center energy consumption, the combined challenge of reducing high energy costs and ensuring environmental responsibility has just started to come into the main-stream,” Lawrence said.

 

“The market for energy efficient enterprise and computing products has changed dramatically during just the past 12 months. Solutions like Power Assure’s that respond to actual demand and take action provide measurable value to data centers struggling to deal with demand increases, constrained capacity, limited power, and data center inefficiencies.”
