The Philippines’ largest telecommunications and digital service provider, PLDT, is planning the launch of its tenth data center in the city of Cebu, expecting to bring the facility online in April.

The company operates a network of data centers across the island nation under its ‘Vitro’ brand. Most recently, the company launched facilities in Clark, Makati and Davao, with other sites in Parañaque, Taguig, Pasic and Subic.

Ten and counting

The company recently broke ground on its first dedicated disaster recovery facility on a former US Air Force base in the Clark Freeport Zone, west of Mabalacat City, to support its Clark data center’s operations.

The latest site in Cebu, on which the company began working in 2016, will be the company’s second in the city and its tenth countrywide, adding 3,600 square meters (38,750 sq ft) of total floor space and 800 racks to the data center’s existing 8,300 racks.
