Phoenix-based data center and cloud services provider Phoenix NAP has expanded its reach into the European market by establishing a node in an Interxion data center in Amsterdam, the company said Monday.

In addition to access to Interxion’s Amsterdam customers, the deal gives Phoenix NAP opportunities to expand quickly into 10 more European markets through Interxion’s data centers serving those markets.

Phoenix NAP president Ian McClarty said quality of the facility, brand recognition, cost effectiveness and security were key factors in the Phoenix company’s decision to choose Interxion.

“Its strong brand recognition and world-class facility are in line with Phoenix NAP in terms of providing flexible, cost effective solutions while maintaining the highest level of security systems and we look forward to building a strong relationship with the data center,” McClarty said about the Amsterdam facility.

Phoenix NAP expects the node to become operational in the second half of 2012. The company plans to offer its public-cloud solution and secured-servers solution out of Interxion. It is also open to eventually offering partial and full colocation racks in the data center.

Phoenix NAP’s primary data center is in its home town. The facility provides about 90,000 sq ft of raised floor at up to 200 watts per square foot. The site is carrier-neutral, offering access to 19 carriers, according to the company’s website.
