Philippine Savings Bank (PSBank) will implement the New Enterprise Data Center (NEDC) strategy from IBM.
PSBank, will migrate its database to IBM System z and use the mainframe for seven Linux-based online transaction processor (OLTP) applications and its Data Warehouse.
IBM System z's advanced virtualization technology will allow PSBank to consolidate multiple servers into just one Integrated Facility for Linux (IFL), while providing 30 times better performance, the companies said.
IBM Philippines Country General Manager, James Velasquez, said:. "We are excited to collaborate with PSBank in driving the new enterprise datacenter architecture-one that allows for massive scalability and dynamic responsiveness while also providing an energy efficient and resilient infrastructure."
With this NEDC transformation project, PSBank and IBM aim to reduce energy consumption as well as reducing cost, space and IT maintenance, while enhancing the efficiency and capacity of its datacenter facilities.
IBM has declared its NEDC strategy can help lower data center energy costs by up to 40% or more through facilities design, power and cooling infrastructure, active energy management, and efficient, scalable IBM systems.
