Following this week's announcement of a fresh capital infusion, Peak 10 has announced that it will use some of the money to build a second data center on the company's campus in Atlanta, Ga. The new 10,000 square foot facility will bring the company's total data center footprint in Atlanta to about 33,000 square feet.

The data center service provider's President and CEO David Jones said in a statement that the decision to expand in that particular market was driven by growing demand for data center services from small and medium enterprises.

"The response from SME businesses in the market continues to be positive, which is one of the reasons we found expansion in this area so critical," he said. "Our recent expanded credit facility positions Peak 10 to meet customers' growth and technical service needs for the future."

Besides Georgia, the company operates data centers in Florida, North Carolina, Kentucky, Tennessee, Virginia and Ohio.

The company has recently been investing in growth through building out as well as through acquisition. In December, Peak 10 announced a successful acquisition of 1Vault - a Florida provider of disaster recovery services. The deal added 1Vault's 66,000 square foot data center to Peak 10's roster.

The new financing announcement Peak 10 made earlier this week was of new credit facility, which was expanded to $95 million. The provider said it would use new capital to expand its data center footprint and to undertake a technology refresh of the platform that supports its cloud-based services.
