Data center managed service provider Peak 10 has acquired the provider of disaster recovery services 1Vault Networks, including the company's 66,000-square-foot data center in Florida's Broward County. Financial terms of the transaction were not disclosed.

"We have built a relationship with 1Vault over the last several years and respect the operating philosophy established by its management team," Peak 10 President and CEO David Jones said in a statement. "With many Peak 10 customers already in South Florida, we sensed an opportunity that was the right fit for both our company and 1Vault."

Acquisition of the facility, which houses 22,000 square feet of raised floor, brings the total number of Peak 10 data centers to 17. The move is a continuation of Peak 10's growth through acquisitions and "greenfield market" entries. Over the past three years, the company has entered markets in Cincinnati, Ohio, Richmond, Va., and Atlanta, Ga.

Peak 10 now has presence in 10 US markets. It has also recently expanded its existing data center floor area in Raleigh, N.C., Charlotte, N.C., Nashville, Tenn., Tampa, Fla., Jacksonville, Fla., and Louisville, Ky.

As part of the deal, Peak 10 also gains ownership of Bocacom - a 1Vault-owned dedicated-server brand.

1Vault CEO Jim Thomas will join Peak 10 as VP and general manager of the buyer company's South Florida division.
