Patronus Data Centers has announced plans to develop a multi-tenant facility in Texas.

The 35 ac site for the data center is on the intersection of the Dallas North Tollway and Main Street in Frisco, Texas.

The site will be developed in four phases and will include around 500,000 sq ft of data center with accompanying offices.

The facility is located next door to an electricity substation that already offers 50MW in capacity and has the potential to be upgraded to run to 250MW.

Phase I of the project, in which 125,000 sq ft of building area is to be developed, will commence before the end of 2014, at a cost of US$60m.

The entire building project, including all four phases, will cost around US$250m, according to the data center builder.

Texas-based Patronus Data Centers was founded last October and this is its first commercial property purchase.

It has hired specialist data center building consultancy Gensler to design the new facility, with a brief to make the building reflect the aesthetics of the neighborhood, according to guidelines issued by the local authority, the City of Frisco.

Petronus Data Center’s VP Ryan Sullivan said the area is attractive for several reasons apart from the obvious proximity to power and connectivity.

“We wanted to be positioned in the path of growth where there is almost no competition from existing providers," said Sullivan.

"The Far North Dallas area is almost always short-listed when corporations evaluate potential office relocation, and we hope to capitalize on that trend by delivering new data center product to support that commercial growth in Frisco".
