Data center infrastructure manager Panduit has bought thermal risk manager SynapSense to acquire its cooling and airflow optimization technology.

SynapSense specializes in secure wireless mesh networking technology, airflow optimization services and cooling control for data centers.

According to Panduit, the company has acquired SynapSense for its ability to help data center managers to cut energy costs, unlock capacity and save money over time.

The company has been bought for its reputation as a trusted partner in sectors such as banking, ISPs, hosting, retail, corporate and government sectors, according to Tom Donovan, Panduit’s president.

“SynapSense is a service-oriented technology company that will bring tremendous value to our customers,” said Donovan.

Panduit claims that the combination of its data center infrastructure management (DCIM) tools and its newly acquired cooling technology will enable it to halve some clients’ energy costs.

SynapSense’s direct sales customer base is restricted to North America and Asia. It sells through reseller Stulz into Australia and New Zealand.

However, Panduit says it now has plans to expand SynapSense’s channel and market its cooling systems globally.

Bart Tichelman, SynapSense’s former CEO, has landed the post of VP within the new organization.

“We now have the most comprehensive DCIM suite available and are very proud to be part of the Panduit family,” he said.
