Low latency, high capacity global network supplier Perseus Telecom, announced its live commercial wireless service in Europe.
The market-to-market Perseus wireless service offers connections between: NYSE Euronext and Liffe in Basildon and Deutsche Bourse and Eurex in Frankfurt; BATS, Chi-X, Turquoise, BOAT, EBS in Slough and Deutsche Bourse and Eurex in Frankfurt; London Stock Exchange (LSE), London Metal Exchange (LME) and Thomson Reuters in London to Deutsche Bourse and Eurex in Frankfurt.
The Perseus microwave network offers customers round trip delays (RTDs) and service level agreements (SLAs) with the current Perseus connection between NYSE Basildon and Eurex/Deutsche Bourse Frankfurt being less than 4.6ms RTD the telecoms provider said.
Having launched the service in October 2012, Perseus was first to provide microwave ultra-low latency services to trading firms between the two major European markets of London and Frankfurt.
The Perseus wireless service is proprietary, managed and operated by Perseus Telecom and its technology partners.
“Perseus has seen a strong demand for high-speed microwave technology since our preliminary launch last year; in fact, that initial capacity quickly sold out,” states Dr. Jock Percy, CEO of Perseus Telecom. “Since then, we have provisioned additional capacity to meet customer demand and remain the fastest available microwave service between London and Frankfurt. Perseus, along with partners who offer domain and technological expertise, designed a wireless route that is also backed up by the fastest fibre network route, promising high availability.”
Perseus customers take advantage of a fair pricing structure due to evergreen clauses that allow customers to benefit from latency enhancements without incurring additional cost. The firm maintains a strict SLA policy and manages bandwidth to accommodate a specific number of customers at optimal service levels. With carefully designed routes to accommodate distance and weather conditions, the Perseus wireless service is augmented by its award-winning fibre network – essentially providing clients with 100% uptime overall and 99% uptime with wireless.
“The move towards wireless connectivity represents the trading industry’s need for lower latency – the challenge is to attain this without sacrificing reliability,” comments Percy. “We quietly released our microwave network last year and we’re very pleased by customer satisfaction. Perseus is a company of firsts – launching QaunTA, the world’s fastest Trans-Atlantic network last year, followed by the introduction of Europe’s first available commercial microwave network. We’re pleased to publicly announce this innovation and look forward to seeing how the application of technology can transform the trading landscape for our customers and the markets we serve.”
