Military and surveillance company Palantir is partnering with The Nuclear Company (TNC) on a construction platform.

The companies will co-develop and deploy NOS, an 'AI-driven' real-time software system focused on the construction of nuclear reactors.

TNC plans to build a 6GW nuclear fleet by the mid-2030s with large fleet-scale plants, unlike the small modular reactors (SMRs) pitched by rival startups. On the company's site, it lists data centers as potential customers.

“With Palantir, we have a technology partner who shares our sense of urgency and understands that nuclear isn’t just an energy issue — it’s a national security imperative. NOS is how we finally break the cycle of delays, deliver a new energy future, and protect America’s nuclear leadership from China, so we don’t lose it like we did manufacturing decades ago.”

Built on the back of Palantir’s flagship Foundry platform, NOS aims to tackle the long-standing problem that nuclear power plants are nearly always over budget and behind schedule.

The platform aims to provide construction teams with real-time data on the availability of certain parts and materials, provide weather reports, track material shortages and lost documents, and initiate backup options during issues.

Large language models will be used to review tens of thousands of documents, and AI agents trained on regulatory requirements will be used in part to validate the data recorded automatically at construction sites.

Sensors will also be placed across construction sites that will feed data in real-time to a digital twin model of the site.

As part of this project, Palantir will deploy its own engineering team with The Nuclear Company’s construction and engineering staff. TNC will pay Palantir around $100 million over five years to develop the platform.

Palantir develops several technologies for the US military as well as private businesses, and has cloud partnerships with Microsoft and Oracle.

In May, the New York Times reported that the company had received a number of large contracts under the new Trump administration, and said that it appeared to be tasked with creating a centralized database of Americans.
