Cambodia plans to launch 5G services in January.

As reported by VN Express this week, the Cambodian Ministry of Posts and Telecommunications announced the formal 2026 timeline following strategic agreements with international development partners.

No specific date was revealed for the launch date, but the service is expected to initially be deployed to Phnom Penh and five provinces.

According to the Ministry, the launch of 5G will support the country's future innovation, modernization, and inclusive digital growth.

"5G deployment represents a transformative shift for Cambodia’s digital infrastructure, promising data speeds dramatically faster than current 4G networks. The technology will enable millions of simultaneous device connections per square kilometer, creating foundations for smart cities and connected economies," said the Cambodian government in its announcement.

Cambodia's telecoms market is served by carriers Smart Axiata, Cellcard (CamGSM), and Metfone (Viettel).
