French telco Orange is reportedly advancing plans to sell its broadcast unit, Globecast.

As reported by French publication L'Informé (paywall) last week, Orange is seeking a buyer for the unit.

It comes amid separate reports that Orange is also looking to sell off part of its data center footprint.

L'Informé reports that Orange is in the early stages of a potential sale of Globecast, a subsidiary that broadcasts AV content for other platforms in seven countries, including France, Italy, the US, and the UK.

Last year, the unit generated a turnover of €216.8 million ($252m) for a net loss of €19m ($22m). The unit has 216 employees in France.

To help speed up a sale, Orange has tapped an investment bank to help sell Globecast, as the carrier looks to divest units that aren't seen as a priority.

Globecast broadcasts video streams for TV platforms during events such as the Tour de France and the 2024 Olympic Games.

The Financial Times reported last week that Orange could slim down its data center portfolio as part of another sale.

Orange owns around 75 data centers across Europe, Africa, and the Middle East. According to DataCenterMap, the company has at least five data centers in France, and is present in a number of other colocation facilities around Paris.

Earlier this year, the firm said it would look to scale and open up its data centers to more third-parties, in the same way its towers now host hardware from other telecoms provider – saying its objective was “not to sell these assets for cash.”
