Oracle has added a new offering to its "dedicated region" collection.

During the Oracle AI World Tour London event, the company's senior vice president of product management OCI, Nathan Thomas, revealed that Oracle is now offering a "Hosted Dedicated Region" solution.

Oracle's Dedicated Regions offering is typically known as an on-premises offering, enabling customers to deploy Oracle hardware within their data centers to access Oracle Cloud Infrastructure, available in deployments as small as three racks.

As explained by Thomas: "That's three racks to get going, and with the full set of OCI web services, all 150 plus services that we provide for customers, and you can expand from there to full region scale, and it's metered and billed the exact same way as our public cloud regions."

Oracle Alloy, then, enables customers to add their own cloud offerings on top of the OCI suite, from dedicated region hardware.

The Hosted Dedicated Region, however, differs in that it is a dedicated cloud deployed within an existing OCI public region's data center.

According to Thomas, this enables customers to reduce the time to market and the expansion into new global locations, and helps its "dedicated Alloy partners launch regions faster and rely on OCI infrastructure to do it."

Thomas also noted during the event that Oracle has expanded its reach for the Oracle Database@AWS offering, which sees Oracle hardware deployed in Amazon Web Services (AWS) data centers, enabling customers to use their Oracle databases with AWS services such as Bedrock and Sagemaker.

The new locations are in the AWS Europe (London) and Europe (Ireland) regions.

“The availability of Oracle AI Database@AWS in the AWS Regions in London and Ireland helps meet rising demand from public and private sector organisations looking to modernise mission-critical workloads and accelerate AI-driven innovation,” said Jason Rees, senior vice president, technology engineering, Oracle EMEA.

“Customers can now migrate their on-premises Oracle Exadata workloads to Oracle AI Database services deployed within AWS with minimal disruption. This is a game-changer and will enable them to bring the highly secure Oracle AI Database together with AWS’s advanced analytics and generative AI capabilities to unlock greater value from their data.”

According to Thomas, Oracle now has 72 locations for its multicloud offering, spanning Google, Microsoft, and AWS data centers.
