Oracle has opened a UK data center at the Equinix Slough facility to provide services for the Government G-Cloud initiative.

The company said the facility will also be available to its ISV (independent software vendor) partners who wish to sell services into the government G-Cloud.

Mark Hurd, Oracle president speaking in London today said “We’ll continue to open up local capabilities by geography and industry. We will show up with capital and put it into the local market.”

The latest data center will be compliant with IL3, the government’s business impact and security protocol.

In a statement, Mark Hurd said: “Oracle is committed to working with public administrations around the world. We applaud the G-Cloud programme and believe it represents a significant step change in the provision of public sector IT services.”
