Oracle has opened a new data center in an Equinix facility in Singapore  - its first in the country – for the delivery of its cloud-based services and Software-as-a-Service.

Oracle is running its operations, which include Enterprise Resource Planning, human capital management, sales and marketing and customer services and support out of the new SG3 data center, phase 1 of which opened this year.

In total, the data center will offer 385,000 sq ft of gross floor area but it currently provides space for 1,000 racks. It is not clear how much space oracle has taken in the facility.

Oracle’s data center has been built using Oracle’s Engineered Systems which includes its Exalogic Elastic cloud, its flagship engineering system for running business applications.

It also uses Oracle Exadata, its database in-memory machine for high-end transactional OLTP, data base clouds and large data warehouses.

Oracle Singapore managing director Leslie Ong said the new data center will help provide agile software solutions to the local customer base.

“Locating the data center here will help customers to enjoy the benefits of the Oracle Cloud, while continuing to meet government regulatory requirements and help to ensure sovereignty of sensitive data,” Ong said.
