A data center operator is being sought to build a campus of up to 1.4GW on a plot of land between Paris and Lille, France.

The Somme Sud-Ouest Community of Municipalities (CC2SO), a group of local authorities in the Somme department of north western France, has put out a call for expressions of interest in the site, at the Bosquel Business Park, located near junction 17 of the A16 motorway.

It is looking for “an operator capable of developing a high-power digital and industrial campus.”

First reported by DCMag, the site offers 33 hectares of immediately available land, with the potential to expand by an additional 17 hectares.

In terms of power, French operator RTE has indicated that the site is located on a fast track grid connection, with 240MW available in the next two years, rising to 1GW in four years, with the potential to reach 1.4GW.

“These conditions make Bosquel a particularly attractive location for cloud computing, hyperscale data centers, high-performance computing, and AI companies,” CC2SO said.

“The availability of exceptional electrical power, combined with a large land reserve, positions the area as a site suitable for hosting strategic investments with a high impact on the national economy.”

Projects in the north west of France include a scheme being pursued by Data4, that would see a data of up to 1GW built in Cambrai at a former airbase.

Prologis is also pursuing a data center project in Le Harve.
