OpenAI's president Greg Brockman holds stakes in a number of technology firms that the company has entered into business dealings with, court documents reveal.

The company said that Brockman disclosed his interests in third-party entities in accordance with OpenAI’s conflict of interest policy. Brockman has shareholdings in Cerebras, CoreWeave, Stripe, Helion, and other undisclosed firms.

The OpenAI co-founder's investments were made public due to an ongoing lawsuit brought by billionaire Elon Musk, who donated to OpenAI when it was non-profit and attests that its for-profit pivot should be unwound.

Brockman had promised to donate $100,000 to OpenAI when it was launched, but in court admitted that he did not follow through. When OpenAI created its for-profit arm in 2019 Brockman was given a large stake in OpenAI, now worth around $30 billion.

An earlier lawsuit by Musk back in 2024 revealed that OpenAI had considered acquiring wafer-scale chip designer Cerebras in 2017, prior to its for-profit shift. With the mounting threat of Google and the cost of compute rising, Musk - who has since criticized the company's profit-driven endeavors - suggested that OpenAI become an arm of Tesla.

Together, OpenAI and Tesla would have acquired Cerebras.

The merger and acquisition ultimately fizzled, but the new lawsuit reveals that Brockman acquired a personal Cerebras stake that very year, ahead of the acquisition talks. OpenAI CEO Sam Altman also owns Cerebras stock.

"There was some overlap between discussions and being an investor in Cerebras, yes," Brockman said in court. He added that there was no email, chat, or text message from him to Musk disclosing the investment during acquisition talks.

Brockman's holding is worth $2,816,235.51, as of the end of 2025.

Cerebras plans to go public later this year, and in January announced a $10 billion deal with OpenAI for 750MW of compute. OpenAI could buy an additional 1.25 gigawatts through 2030, and has loaned Cerebras $1bn.

Brockman similarly began buying shares in CoreWeave from 2019, for a valuation of $817,365.75 as of April 2026. OpenAI has announced multiple multi-billion deals with the neocloud, starting in 2025. Altogether, OpenAI has committed to spend up to $22.4bn on CoreWeave services.

In 2023, Brockman began acquiring shares in Helion Energy, worth $433,584.34 as of the end of last year. Altman has invested in the company since 2015, and was on the board until this year. In March 2024, OpenAI signed a non-binding agreement with Helion to use its as-yet undeveloped fusion reactors to power OpenAI's data centers.

Brockman's Stripe stake predates his time at OpenAI, with the engineer working for five years at the company, most recently as CTO. He owns $471,256,632 in shares, as of March 2026.

In June 2023, OpenAI announced a deal with Stripe to power its payment systems, paying the company $60 million over three years.
