Qatari telco Ooredoo Group has appointed Sunita Bottse as the CEO of Mena Digital Hub.
Mena Digital Hub is the group’s newly established carrier-neutral data center branch, set up to provide colocation services to hyperscalers in the Middle East region.
Bottse most recently served as the senior director of data center site acquisition (EMEA) at Microsoft and was also the managing director of data centers (APAC) at Lendlease.
She also previously held roles as the CEO of Supernap Thailand and vice president of Ctex in Latin America.
“Sunita’s appointment marks an exciting milestone in our journey to transform the digital infrastructure in the MENA region. Her extensive experience and visionary leadership will be instrumental in driving Mena Digital Hub’s growth and reinforcing our commitment to innovation and excellence,” said Aziz Aluthman Fakhroo, group CEO of Ooredoo.
Fakhroo added: “With Sunita at the helm of Mena Digital Hub, we are confident in our ability to set new benchmarks in the industry and deliver unparalleled value to existing and new customers.”
Mena Digital Hub will operate as a standalone entity for Ooredoo’s data center business.
The company said it plans to expand its capacity to more than 120MW with a $1 billion investment in the long term.
Ooredoo Group currently has 26 data centers in operation across Qatar, Kuwait, Oman, Iraq, and Tunisia. According to the company’s website, it has generated revenues of QAR 23 billion ($6.3bn) since December 2022.
