Ontario'sGovernment Services minister Gerry Phillips has announced that Guelph has been selected as the site of a new information technology data center. The facility is designed to support Ontario government's current and prospective technology needs.
"Guelph is a vibrant city and a premier business location, Phillips said. "This state-of-the-art IT centre will employ approximately 140 people and help make our technology resources more efficient, reliable and improve services for people right across Ontario, reports CSS magazine.
The center, which will be built on a 25-acre site, is part of the government's plan to ensure its "technology systems are robust, reliable and responsive to current and future needs. The city was selected because of its hydro and telecommunications infrastructure and an ability to meet the government's information technology needs.
