Wholesale fiber operator Onivia has announced an agreement with Vodafone that allows it to offer mobile services over the British operator's network in Spain.

Thanks to this alliance, the company is evolving from a model focused exclusively on fiber to a fixed-mobile convergent proposal for its wholesale customers, mainly other operators and service providers that do not have their own networks.

The agreement is part of Onivia's expansion of its fiber footprint from around 10.2 million homes to close to 18 million homes, combining its own FTTH access networks with capacity contracted from third parties.

Onivia was set up in 2019 as Spain's first independent wholesale provider.

With the incorporation of mobile services based on the Vodafone network, Onivia can offer its customers convergent packages of fixed and mobile connectivity on the same wholesale platform, simplifying technical and commercial integration.

This proposition is particularly relevant for regional operators, digital brands, and specialized players that aspire to compete with multi-service offerings without undertaking large network deployments.

The transaction also reinforces the role of neutral operators within the Spanish telecommunications ecosystem, where infrastructure sharing and wholesale access agreements have become key levers to sustain investment in next-generation networks.
