How has the rack standard changed, and what’s causing the changes?
In this report, DCD’s Peter Judge discusses the Open Rack with Andy Gill, director of engineering at Rittal.
Gill lists the main differences between version 1 and version 2 of the OCP standard, which boil down to simplification and more efficient use of materials, and result in infrastructure that’s cheaper to produce.
He adds that Rittal is seeing considerable growth in adoption of the Open Rack, and that the company is well equipped to support both the classic 19-inch and the new 21-inch form-factor.
The meeting took place at the OCP Summit 2016 in San Jose, California, that concluded last month.
