US data center provider ViaWest has become property of the private equity firm Oak Hill Capital Partners and, to a smaller extent, GI Partners. The acquisition, first announced in April, has been closed, however the involved parties chose not to disclose its financial terms.
"We are very pleased to move forward in our new partnership with Oak Hill Capital," ViaWest CFO Michael Krza said in a statement. "I cannot overstate the efforts of all parties involved to make this a seamless process, and we couldn't be happier about the addition of another knowledgeable industry investor  GI Partners."
GI, which has made a minority investment in the company, was not part of the original announcement of the deal. The data center provider's former owners were Trinity Equity Investors, Goldman Sachs and Quilvest, among others.
Denver, Colo.-based ViaWest operates 16 data centers in five states, where it offers colocation and managed services to mid-size and enterprise-caliber clients. The company's facilities are located in Colorado, Texas, Oregon, Utah and Nevada. Its current client roster ÔÇô more than 1,000 companies ÔÇô includes Frontier Airlines, the Denver Broncos (an NFL team), Chipotle and Northrop Grumman.
The Royal Bank of Canada arranged debt financing for the acquisition. Barclays Structured Principal Investment Fund and Solar Capital provided mezzanine financing.
