Converged infrastructure vendor Nutanix announced that LA Fitness chose its virtualized computing platform to power its data center.

LA Fitness said it was searching for a scalable platform that would enable the company to achieve the internal “simpler is better” mandate, inspired by Google data centers.

Kevin Derenard, director of IT Infrastructure at LA Fitness, said the company had seen “dramatic improvements” since implementing Nutanix in application performance and accelerated time to production for new virtual machines.

“With Nutanix we have achieved seven times faster storage, three times more SQL transactions per section, and 12 times more web pages delivered per second,” Derenard said.

LA Fitness is currently deploying more than 100 virtualized enterprise workloads on Nutanix, with an eventual goal of standardizing all applications to run on the platform. The company also plans to expand its VDI project to multiple groups and departments.

Sudheesh Nair, VP of worldwide sales at Nutanix, said LA Fitness was shifting its IT strategy to bring converged infrastructure to the front.

“Nutanix’s unique, software-driven approach to converged infrastructure has made it possible for LA Fitness to blow previous performance records out of the water and set the company up for continued success as it strives to virtualize all of its workloads on Nutanix,” Nair said.

In June Nutanix released its latest elastic storage platform for virtual computing, the NX-6000 Virtual Computing Platform series.
