NTT Communications Corp, the Tokyo-based global telecommunications and IT services giant, has signed a strategic agreement with Spain-based fiber optic communications operator ONO.

Both companies hope the agreement will enhance the capabilities and services that both suppliers offer to their global customers.

ONO, which serves over 7m customers in Spain, is poised to increase its range of Internet services offered to large customers and operators as a result of the agreement.

NTT, the world’s second largest carrier of Internet traffic, will expand its global Tier I IP network with two new points of presence (PoPs) in Valencia and Sevilla, adding to its existing PoPs in Madrid and Barcelona.

Last month NTT closed Yamaha Motor on a major cloud deal, providing Yamaha with a platform to strengthen business continuity and cut costs by consolidating currently dispersed servers, networks and other.
