Norton Healthcare Inc. has unveiled plans to build a secondary datacenter in eastern Jefferson County, Kentucky, that will be small in size, but significant in importance.
The 15,000-square-foot facility planned for the rapidly growing Blankenbaker Station Business Park will cost $15 million, according to a building permit filed with Louisville-Jefferson County Metro Government.
The center initially will be used as a backup to Norton's main data facility, located at 224 E. Broadway on the health care company's downtown campus.
Eventually, when running at full strength, the Blankenbaker Station center will complement Norton's downtown facility, providing additional security and ensuring "business continuity" for the company, particularly during a disaster.
