North Carolina's Washington-Warren Airport is getting a new data center after receiving additional government funding.
Located in the City of Washington, the airport is set to get $13.5 million in funding from the state budget.
The money will be used for the development of "key infrastructure" including a "state-of-the-art" data center and other facilities as chosen by the Airport Authority.
Those facilities will be dedicated to the advancement of air mobility design, engineering, training, and manufacturing initiatives at the airport.
Little information about the planned data center has been shared - DCD has reached out for more details.
“This is a landmark moment,” said Roy Whichard, chairman of the Washington-Warren Airport Authority. “Such a substantial investment is a testament to our commitment to community progress and the prospects it brings.”
The Washington-Warren Airport is a regional airport owned and operated by the city of Washington. It can accommodate small to medium-sized aircraft and has a 5,002 ft runway.
