Hurricane Electric established a point-of-presence (PoP) at Cologix’s data center in Vancouver. Hurricane Electric provides network services – it claims to have the world’s largest IPv6-native internet backbone – and data center colocation.
The new PoP gives the company quick access to customers in Vancouver and throughout Canada. Customers at the Cologix data center can now exchange IP traffic and peer with Hurricane Electric’s global internet backbone directly.
7L adds cage colocation to portfolio
Toronto colocation provider 7L Networks expanded its hosting services to include cage colocation. The company previously only offered colocation in private suites, and explained the addition of the cage offering by a general increase in Canada’s IT and colocation markets.
Operator of a 90,000 sq ft data center in Toronto, 7L cited expansion projects by competitors such as Peer1, Data Centers Canada and others as signs that the colocation market was heating up.
Renaissance Media learns a lesson
Custom-publishing company Renaissance Media has signed on to host and archive its clients’ and publications’ data and content at Online Tech’s data centers in Michigan.
The publishing house has been meticulous with data backup ever since a fire in 2000 completely destroyed its office building. All content was lost, except for one file cabinet that had disks storing files of The Detroit Jewish News.
Colocation America wants more channel partners
Colocation America, a data center services provider, has expanded its channel-partner program to partner with more companies after seeing success of such collaboration with several VoIP providers and, more recently, Dome9, a provider of firewall-management services.
The colocation company’s business-development manager Albert Ahdoot said, “We are more strategically aligned than ever before to take on new partnerships.”
