According to a Russian media website, Moscow-based Open Technologies, a system integrator, has completed upgrading a data center for the polar division of Norilsk Nikel, a major producer of non-ferrous metals.
The upgrade is a response to the growing number of SAP R/3 users in addition to being a functional expansion for the company.
The report states that two data-processing centers were constructed 5km apart to minimize possible downtime and data loss, in case of the risk of fire or protracted blackouts.
