The following content is from an older version of this website, and may not display correctly. Next Generation Data Europe said it is building seven new data halls in an extension covering 420,000 sq ft and costing £12m at its NGD Europe data center in Cardiff, Wales.
The Tier III data center, which has a footprint of 75,000 sq m, will welcome three new phases of build by the end of this year. Each phase will contain 140,000 sq ft of raised floor.
NGD Europe opened just last year and since then has signed £20m in contracts, including deals with several blue chip multinational and government organizations.
It recently secured £5m of debt finance from investors including Lombard and Finance Wales.
NGD Wales Chairman Simon Taylor said NGD is seeing a lot of interest from customers in large organizations on mainland Europe and North America.
"Our initial custom build halls are now fully occupied on long-term contracts and we have a very strong customer pipeline, both in terms of new customers and repeat business from our existing client base," Taylor aid.
This year alone, NGD has managed to fill on third of the first phase of its data center build with five large contracts.
The NGD Europe site is owned by the Government of Wales, which acts as a landlord to NGD.
It has high capacity power supply direct from the grid and high-speed low latency fiber connections. Clients so far include government and enterprise clients.
