Provider of infrastructure cloud services for enterprises PeakColo has taken space at the Seattle data center of the newly formed colocation company Digital Fortress.
For PeakColo, which provides services based on the Infrastructure-as-a-Service model, the move is way to expand its presence in the Pacific Northwest, the company said. The expansion adds a Seattle node to the multi-data center infrastructure supporting its cloud in North America and the UK.
PeakColo CEO Luke Norris said the company’s customers had been asking for a physical node in the region. “We have been looking for the right opportunity to expand into the Northwest,” he said.
Digital Fortress was formed in February by two private equity firms and a private investment fund. The three partners bought data center assets of two colocation companies with data center space at the Intergate.West data center campus in Seattle owned by Sabey.
The colocation company’s name is derived from the names of the two former data center firms: digital.forest and Fortress Colocation Services.
Owners of Digital Fortress are Halyard Capital, Meritage Funds and Sweetwater Capital.
