New Zealand's EonFibre has debuted a data center connectivity offering.

The service, called DC Direct, provides high bandwidth links between a customer’s network and various data centers. Available options include dark fiber, wavelength, and Ethernet.

CEO Richard Mooney said that the company’s fiber network “has extensive reach covering over 30 major data centers and LFC exchanges across the country, as well as 3,500 business premises.”

The company currently offers fiber connectivity between key cities in New Zealand, including Auckland, Hamilton, Wellington, and Christchurch.

EonFibre was launched as a dedicated fiber business by Kiwi telco One New Zealand (One NZ) in August 2024. The telco announced last October that it would be switching off its 2G and 3G offerings.

New Zealand is currently connected to seven subsea cables. The country’s strategic location in the Pacific and its connectivity has drawn various cloud operators to the archipelago, including AWS and Microsoft.
