Data center developer and operator Sentinel has brought on board a new investment partner in a deal that made up to US$300m in new equity expansion capital available to the company. The company has recently completed the first phase of its 330,000-sq-ft data center in New Jersey and the new capital will fund the next stage of growth.
The new investment partner is New York-based Kelso, which will invest together with Sentinel founders. In addition to the new investment partnership, Sentinel announced closing of a $90m loan in connection with the New Jersey facility, led by M&T Bank.
Todd Aaron, co-founder and co-president of Sentinel, said the Kelso team shared his and his colleagues' vision for the company, which is emphasizing quality over quantity.
"Our singular focus remains the development of thoughtfully designed facility solutions tailored specifically to the reliability, efficiency, flexibility and reporting requirements of the large, quality-sensitive enterprise," he said.
The recently completed first phase of the data center in Somerset brought an additional 140,000 sq ft of wholesale data center space to the New Jersey market.
The US Green Building Council has awarded a LEED (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) Gold certification to the facility ÔÇô the second highest award for the organization's rating system for sustainable building.
