Data center operator Net Access has raised private equity to finance growth from Seaport Capital, whose past investments include Peak 10 and Switch & Data (bought by Equinix in 2009).
The New Jersey data center and hosting services provider did not say how much it raised from Seaport, but the private-equity firm says it usually seeks to invest between US$5m and $25m in each company in its portfolio.
Net Access has two data centers in Parsippany, New Jersey, and one in Cedar Knolls, New Jersey. Cedar Knolls and one of the Parsippany data centers are 50,000 sq ft in size, while the second facility in Parsippany measures 15,000 sq ft.
Blake Ellman, CEO and co-founder of Net Access, said the industry still had a lot of growth ahead of it. “Net Access has ambitious plans in the coming years and I look forward to working with the Seaport team to achieve our goals.”
John Collis, a Seaport partner, said Net Access’ history of solution flexibility and good customer service made the firm attractive. Because of its customer service, the firm built a loyal customer base that has been growing quickly.
Its large Parsippany data center has already positioned the company for continued growth, he added.
Net Access retained investment-banking firm DH Capital to advise it on the deal.
“Seaport's extensive understanding of the colocation and managed hosting market and previous investment experience in the sector will add tremendous value to Net Access as it capitalizes on the existing market opportunity for the company's products and services,” Adam Lewis, partner at DH Capital, said.
