Two US private equity firms and one private investment fund have bought data center assets of two colocation companies and have established a new colocation provider Digital Fortress, which will be serving the US Pacific Northwest.
The company was created by Halyard Capital, Meritage Funds and Sweetwater Capital after the syndicate bought data center businesses of digital.forest and Fortress Colocation Services, Halyard announced Thursday.
Mark Hughes, former CFO at Inflow Communications and EVP of operations at SunGard Availability Services, was appointed to the post of executive chairman of the new colo player.
Hughes said Digital Fortress differentiated itself by offering high-density power with an efficient and effective operating model. “We believe this model delivers best-in-class infrastructure solutions comparable to nationally recognized competitors, but at a more attractive value to customers,” he said.
Both digital.forest’s and Fortress Colocation’s data centers are located on Sabey’s massive Intergate.West campus in Seattle. The new colo company has already started to expand its footprint, currently refurbishing another 18,000 sq ft of raised floor at an existing enterprise-class data center in downtown Seattle.
