Network connectivity provider Oxford Networks said it would invest US$5m into a data center provider whose facility is located in a hardened building at the site of a former US military airport near Brunswick, Maine.
Data center at the former Brunswick Naval Air Station is owned and operated by Resilient Tier-V. The two companies partnered to provide network and data center services at the site.
Oxford president and CEO Craig Gunderson said his company had been investing heavily in fiber-optic infrastructure for the past 10 years and the partnership with Resilient was an opportunity to leverage that investment.
"Resilient offers one of the most secure data storage sites in the United States and we are excited about what this can mean for our clients and the state," he said.
Resilient's facility at Brunswick most recently protected military data and communications systems. The company's president Charles Largay said Oxford's investment will help it provide additional levels of reliability and redundancy at the site.
