Construction and testing of the one of the most-advanced offshore data center facilities is now complete, and the Isle of Man Dataport is open for business according to Netcetera, a leading European web hosting company. The facility will allow certain internet-based companies to realise up to 47.5 per cent total tax savings on profits by hosting in the Isle of Man.
"We are very excited to offer internet-based companies and general businesses the highest quality facility for housing IT infrastructure," said Peter Skelton, Netcetera's managing director, in a press release posted on PR Web.

"Our new Dataport brings together the most advanced technology available, state-of-the-art security and an experienced support team to provide the highest levels of service. Its offshore location provides the added benefits of significant tax efficiencies."
The Dataport represents a £10 million investment and is Netcetera's first data center to be located offshore, an addition to the three London-based data centers the company already operates.
Its location inside the Isle of Man Freeport offers an excellent combination of physical and virtual security for housing IT infrastructure to ensure business continuity and 100 per cent availability. In addition to advanced access control systems, the Dataport is staffed 24/7 by security and operational personnel who are supported by CCTV technology.
The Freeport location offers ebusinesses the added value of allowing free movement of goods between the Isle of Man and the European Community, reducing many customs duties and eliminating many planning requirements.
The Dataport is now fully functional and is already providing hosting to many of Netcetera's customers. It boasts 700+ rack hosting capacity (approximately 28,000 servers) and features: scalable and redundant power and cooling, VESDA fire protection systems, specialised heat and smoke sensors, raised flooring and a controlled environment from a 1u shelf to private partitioned areas.
