NEC will occupy Springfield's 20,000sqm Polaris Data Centre, due for completion in 2008, to house the infrastructure they will be deploying as part of a wider connected communities' programme for Springfield residents and employees.
NEC will interconnect with a wider network of telcos to ensure residents are still able to choose their own internet and telephone services.
The leading ICT company has entered into a strategic alliance with Springfield's AUS$180 million Polaris Data Centre to increase the new city's ICT capability. The three-year alliance will ensure South East Queensland's fastest growing city is entirely driven by e-technology. NEC will be assessing Greater Springfield's ICT infrastructure requirements to meet the demands of a changing work/life environment. NEC intends to use Springfield as an environment in which to showcase new technology and innovations, a move endorsed by Springfield Land Corporation chairman Maha Sinnathamby.
"This alliance will play a vital role in creating Australia's only truly 21st century city. We are excited to work with NEC to embed their first class ICT solutions into our planning, Sinnathamby commented.
