NasdaqOMX deployed Cisco's Nexus 5000 switches and Nexus 2000 series fabric extender at its trading data center in Philadelphia.
The NasdaqOMX PHLX platform is a Philadelphia based trading exchange which offers electronic and floor-based options trading on NASDAQ OMX's INET technology.
The company said users have seen significant performance improvement, including reduced latency and jitter.
The products deployed are part of Cisco's Data Center Business Advantage portfolio for trading data centers. For the Options Trading Exchange, it deployed 12 Nexus 5000 Series Switches and 24 Nexus 2000 Series Fabric Extenders, which can deploy a unified fabric with fibre-channel-over-Ethernet.
The Cisco Borderless Networks solutions in NASDAQ OMX's existing core trading system include more than 1,300 routers and switches and 200 Cisco firewall devices for security.
Dimension Data served as NASDAQ OMX's solution provider for the Philadelphia-based Options Trading Exchange deployment.
NasdaqOMX is an existing Cisco customer.
