Exchange operator NASDAQ OMX has launched a new connectivity solution, offering its colocation customers links to major trading and colocation venues in New York, New Jersey, Chicago and Canada.

The service, called Express Connect, will be provided with the help of CFN Services and Sidera Networks. The former provides “trading enablement” services, helping companies improve the performance of their trading infrastructure, and the latter provides connectivity services for carriers and enterprises.

Stacie Swanstrom, VP of transaction services at NASDAQ, said, “By partnering with CFN and Sidera to launch Express Connect, we are able to provide our customers high quality, low latency routes to integral liquidity hubs at attractive prices.”

The service is available to colocation customers at the company’s Carteret, New Jersey, data center. The liquidity center hosts both equities and options markets and provides access to major industry market feeds.

Express Connect, a turnkey solution, will help its customers reduce network infrastructure, NASDAQ said. Connection speeds available are 100mb, 1G and 10G.

Placing servers in the facilities where exchange infrastructure is located minimizes the latency of connections to the trading venues, giving colocation customers an advantage of reacting to changes in the market quicker.

NASDAQ has recently expanded power and connectivity options at the New Jersey data center, adding Super Cab and 40G Client Connectivity. Super Cab provides customers with up to 17kW of power and cooling capacity per cabinet to operate trading equipment.

The 40G Client Connectivity product gives US customers access to all of the exchange group’s US markets through a single low-latency connection. This provides a seven-microsecond roundtrip latency improvement over the 10G connectivity option.

NYSE Euronext, another large exchange operator, also offers colocation services and a slew of other technology products for the trading industry out of its data centers. This week, NYSE launched the Capital Markets Community Platform in Europe at its recently built data center in Basildon, England, following launch of the same service in the US last year.

The platform consists of a package of services by NYSE Technologies, including Superfeed, Managed Transaction Hub and the Secure Financial Transactions Infrastructure (SFTI) network.
